Frequently asked
questions.
Choosing childcare is one of the more important decisions you will make as a parent. Here are some answers to common questions we're asked.
What is Mercy Nest Childcare?
Mercy Nest Childcare (MNC) is a boutique, home-based childcare center in the Potomac, Bethesda and Rockville area of Maryland. Founded by Tetiwe Muronda, known as Ms. Tee or Coach T, we keep enrollment intentionally small. This means your child receives personal attention in a warm, family-like setting. Think of it as a village of care, built around your child.
What ages do you serve?
Our Early Years Day Program serves infants, toddlers, and young children during the week. Our Saturday Club welcome children ages 3 through 12 for themed two-hour gatherings. The Mercy Nest Club after-school program serves children in kindergarten through 7th grade.
Is Mercy Nest a licensed facility?
Yes. Mercy Nest is licensed by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), Office of Child Care. Your child's safety is never a question here.
What is your childcare philosophy?
We believe children grow best when they feel safe, seen, and loved. Our approach is play-based and relationship-centered. We nurture curiosity through hands-on exploration, creative expression, and culturally enriched activities. Every child is met where they are and encouraged to bloom at their own pace.
What are your hours of operation?
- scheduleMonday – Friday: 7:00 am – 3:00 pm & 3:30 pm – 7:00 pm
- bedtimeOvernight care available
- eventSaturday Club in 2-hour time slots
Do you provide meals?
Yes, meals are provided. Please reach out to discuss specifics for your child's dietary needs.
What are Mercy Nest Saturdays?
Mercy Nest Saturdays are themed two-hour gatherings for children ages 3 to 12. Each session focuses on a different experience:
- Letters of Light, literacy and storytelling activities
- Escape Room, problem-solving challenges that spark critical thinking
- Seeds of Kindness, lessons in empathy, sharing, and community
- Nature Play & Little Builders, outdoor exploration and hands-on building projects
These sessions give children something meaningful to look forward to, and parents a short, reliable break.
What is Emergency Care?
Life is unpredictable. Our Emergency Care service is available to families whose children are already registered with Mercy Nest. All state ratio regulations apply, so availability depends on current enrollment for that day. Contact us as early as possible when you need this option.
Do you offer family support services?
Absolutely. We care for the whole family, not just the child. Our support services include:
- Parenting in purpose, supporting you to raise with intention, clarity, and care
- Lactation support for new and expecting mothers
- Newborn care workshops to build your confidence before baby arrives
- Parent coaching with a certified Life Coach who understands the journey
You do not have to do this alone. That is the whole point of a village.
What makes Mercy Nest different?
Most childcare centers operate at scale. We do the opposite.
- Boutique model with intentionally small enrollment
- Relationship-centered care where every child is known deeply
- Culturally enriched programming that honors diverse backgrounds
- A true home environment, not a commercial facility
- A founder with intentionality and a vision
